Why IAM?

The IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) was established in 1956 with its core charitable objectives to help improve road safety and to establish the Advanced Driving Test.

As well as over 100,000 current individual members, over 400,000 successful tests, and a network of over 200 local groups with a fantastic body of passionate road safety volunteers, the IAM recognises the importance of managing road risks for people driving for, or to, work.

IAM Drive & Survive is the new name for the commercial business division dedicated to improving driver safety at work. We have an increasingly holistic view about driver risk management and are continually investing in the development of new services to maintain our position at the forefront of this core, safety critical aspect of modern life.

IAM Drive & Survive has been formed from the two business operations previously known as IAM Fleet Training and Drive & Survive. The new consolidated business came into effect from April 2010.

To help give you and employees who drive on behalf of your organisation the skills and tools they need to do their jobs, and to help ensure your organisation meets its legal obligations, we have developed a clear, cost-effective 3 step process:

1. Fully assess your occupational driver risk in the following ways:

  • review/develop your driving at work policy
  • assess the individual risk for each driver
  • validate each driver’s licence
  • help you manage your ‘grey fleet’ (any driver using privately owned or hired vehicle for business)

2. Identify areas for development

Through a comprehensive suite of driver training tools, from online driver assessment, e-learning modules, seminar training to practical on-road accompanied training with professional advanced driving instructors, IAM Drive & Survive can tailor individual solutions for each of your drivers needs.

3. Deliver tailored development plans
