IAM Drive & Survive has developed Ecolution, a driver training module which can improve fuel consumption by up to 25% and lead to significant vehicle emission reductions.

Fuel and vehicle costs are a core part of a company's fleet expenditure. But with high fuel prices and the effect of transport use on the environment under constant scrutiny, it’s understandable that organisations are looking for ways in which to reduce their fuel bills, as well as their carbon footprint. Often, poor fuel efficiency is often a result of erratic driving behaviour and is characterised by harsh braking and rapid acceleration.

Ecolution teaches simple but incredibly effective driving techniques which are easily adopted in everyday driving behaviour, and have a significant impact on fleet running costs. It develops driver hazard perception and promotes smart, smooth and safer driving techniques. Ecolution includes an overview of things a driver can do to their vehicle to improve fuel consumption and the course focuses on the benefits of saving fuel by using the proven “Eco Smart Driving” technique, which is a realistic driving style applicable to any driver.

Results from Ecolution trials show that, for an average fleet of around 3,000 company drivers, companies could see an average annual fuel bill reduction of more than £300,000, which could also be coupled with significant CO2 savings of up to 3,000 tonnes per annum.
