vrm-img01Human error is a factor in over 90% of road collisions. The actions of managers and drivers are expressions of their attitudes, behaviours, personal choices and the systems and culture in which they work.

Employers have an obligation to provide a risk assessment for any employee considered to be exposed to manageable risks. This includes risks associated with driving for work purposes, irrespective of whether the vehicle in question has been provided by the employer or not.

vrm-img00What is VRM?

IAM Drive & Survive’s Virtual Risk Manager® (VRM) is a research based, statistically validated* online risk assessment, monitoring and improvement tool developed by Interactive Driving Systems (IDS) over a 15 year period. VRM will help you to effectively lead and manage your corporate risk and road safety strategy in a customised, compliant and cost effective way. By identifying your most at risk drivers, VRM manages all areas of your business for early intervention, providing effective targeted improvements and development as required.

vrm-img02VRM is a total solution which:

  • Identifies and manages your most ‘at-risk’ drivers through the integration and analysis of risk assessment, collision, telematics, licence and other data according to your driving for work policies and good practice
  • Measures, monitors and reports back on the qualification, road safety performance and training activities of all drivers and work groups across your company
  • Acknowledges your safest drivers
  • Delivers state-of-the-art assessment and coaching directly to your drivers’ computers anywhere in the world 365/24/7
  • Minimises the cost and frequency of incidents, collisions, excessive fuel use and vehicle damage with sustainable ‘returns on investment’ of between 20 - 60% over three years
  • Provides evidence of active ‘due diligence’ and ‘control’ at all times to insurers and others, and complies with international good practice for all vehicle and fork-lift types

VRM helps you to:

  • Build road safety into your corporate DNA
  • Minimise the risk of serious incidents resulting in injuries and asset damage, by identifying at risk drivers
  • Demonstrate a duty of care by complying with legal requirements for safety, transport and corporate liability
  • Control and manage your safety and fleet related costs
  • Demonstrate a commitment to corporate social responsibility, with functions including audits, crash data, risk assessment outcomes, training results and electronic licence checks

VRM empowers employers, allowing them to identify the most ‘at risk’ drivers and deliver a range of targeted and cost effective interventions.

vrm-img03How does it work?

VRM helps clients build a road safety management system into their operating ‘DNA’, & create a Crash Free Culture®. The full VRM offering consists of several phases typically deployed over a rolling two to five year cycle:

PHASE 1: Safety Culture

Phase 1 creates a foundation for growing your safety culture by focusing on awareness and compliance of all your safety policies, rules and expectations. Drivers are asked to commit to your safety culture through the following combination of modules:

  • Client Privacy Notice/Consent
  • Client Policy Acknowledgement and Permit to Drive
  • Driver DetailsElectronic Licence Check and Grey Fleet Compliance
  • Client Safety Pledge™
  • Client Risk Foundation™

PHASE 2: RoadRISK®

RoadRISK® is a validated assessment providing drivers with the opportunity to demonstrate and benchmark their knowledge of defensive driving, which in turn allows you to start the process of identifying appropriate areas to target for risk reduction

Phase 2 involves the following:

  • RoadRISK: Profile Evaluation & feedback on Driver, Vehicle and Journey risk exposures
  • RoadRISK: Defensive Driving - evaluation & feedback on defensive driving good practice
  • Custom feedback reports provided to each driver and all levels of management as required

PHASE 3: DriverINDEX® and OneToOne®

Phase 3 combines all available data (including RoadRISK outcomes, licence checks, collisions, telemetry, fuel and other records). Feedback is provided to all levels of management and drivers through online reports, OneToOne® reviews and coaching with their manager, the outcomes of which are all recorded on the system to allow targets and progress to be monitored over time.

PHASE 4: RiskCOACH® and other targeted interventions

Needs based development is the key element of Phase 4. A growing library of online RiskCOACH® modules provide targeted coaching on topics such as Eco-driving, Space and Pace (Speed and Distance), Driving While Distracted, Driving in Bad Weather, Avoiding Damage While Parked, Blind Spots and Driver Attitude. Other relevant interventions, such as appropriate behind the wheel training and workshops for managers, supervisors and work allocators are also available, and recommended as required based on individual risk levels and needs.
