FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
24 August 2010
Driving over 500 miles on one tank of fuel may sound like an impossible feat, but that is exactly what comedians Dan Adams and Christian Ancliff did when they drove from London to their debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last Sunday. In fact they arrived with over a third of a tank to spare.
To help them tackle motorways, city centre routes and country roads in the most fuel efficient way possible, IAM Drive & Survive gave the pair a crash course in eco-driving techniques through its ecolution product before they set off
Dan and Christian learned simple techniques such as advanced anticipation, intelligent route planning and speed control which helped them increase their fuel economy by 50 per cent, as well as getting them from A to B a lot quicker.
Designed to lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, the ecolution eco-driving course also offered some hints and tips on smoother and safer driving methods. The tutorial is available on YouTube.com.
The comedians’ IAM Drive & Survive tutor Simon Elstow said: “Dan and Christian did a brilliant job and have shown just what’s possible if you think intelligently about the way you drive. They have taken away fuel-efficient techniques which will work on any road in any car they drive in future.”
Dan Adams commented: “The ecolution driving course proved that driving efficiently is as much to do with the driver as the car - it’s a reciprocal thing”

The commercial division of the IAM operates through occupational driver training company IAM Drive & Survive.
2. A 2006 report by Brunel University, following an 18 month study, concluded that “advanced driver training produces safer drivers and lower accident involvement”, with measurable improvements in knowledge, skills and attitude.
