Are special facilities needed? Not necessarily, though employers who recognise the strategic benefits of encouraging a significant part of their workforce to cycle to and from work may wish to upgrade their current facilities. This may include the provision of secure, sheltered cycle racking or changing and shower facilities.
Do cyclists need to wear special protective clothes? Apart from waterproofs if the weather is changeable, we do not recommend any particular clothing for cycling. Wearing a helmet is not a legal requirement and is a matter of personal choice, although we would never discourage anyone form wanting to wear one.
Do cyclists need their own bikes? In most instances, yes. All training is conducted on either the delegates own bike or a bike provided for them by their employer; however, some local instructors do have pool bikes that can be used if suitable for the delegate(s).
When and where is training held? Ideally, training would be held at and around the workplace or home so that local conditions and cycling environments can be taken into account. Training sessions can be held at any time during the day, 7 days a week. To minimise disruption, we recommend lunchtimes or after work.
How long does training take? Training times are relative to the individual cyclists' needs and are therefore variable; however, in total, all 3 courses can be undertaken in approximately 2-3 hours.
