About the course
Banksman courses are designed to equip delegates with the basic skills necessary to supervise either off-road or on-road manoeuvring in large vehicles. Through a range of different scenarios, the delegate learns to identify, understand and efficiently manage key risks.

The course uses a combination of theory, practical training and role-play, to safely simulate a range of common scenarios. The practical element of the course has been specifically designed to replicate a number of obstructions the driver must negotiate, while taking restricted stopping places into consideration.

The driver is trained to use signals recognised by the HSE (Health & Safety Executive).

Each driver is to be directed by each mate (Banksman) in turn using proscribed signals (mirrors turned in).

The trainer also takes a turn in driving the vehicle, allowing the participant to take on the role of the Banksman.

This dual focus approach to the training ensures that participants become competent in all scenarios.
